{"id":904,"date":"2016-11-02T00:09:12","date_gmt":"2016-11-01T23:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/compa.hr\/ccloudwiki\/?p=904"},"modified":"2016-11-02T00:09:57","modified_gmt":"2016-11-01T23:09:57","slug":"troubleshooting-vss-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/compa.hr\/ccloudwiki\/en\/troubleshooting-vss-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"Troubleshooting VSS issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) is a set of COM APIs that implements a framework to allow volume backups to be performed while applications on a system continue to write to the volumes.<\/p>\n<p>If this service is not\u00a0running on your machine, C-Cloud will fail to back up your opened and locked files. To check this service status:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to the <strong>Start<\/strong> menu on your machine.<\/li>\n<li>In the Search\\Run filed type: <strong>services.msc<\/strong> and hit enter.<\/li>\n<li>Look for the <strong>Volume Shadow Copy Service,<\/strong>\u00a0right click on it and select <strong>Properties<\/strong>. From the <strong>General<\/strong> tab, make sure that the Service startup type is set to Automatic and then start the service.<\/li>\n<li>Repeat the step 3 for the service <strong>Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>And also check the Windows Event Viewer for any recent errors related to this service. Here is how you can do that:<br \/>\nFrom <strong>Start<\/strong> menu \u2192 <strong>Control Panel<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Administrative Tools<\/strong> \u2192 Double-click\u00a0<strong>Event Viewer<\/strong>\u2192 From the left panel of the Event Viewer, select\u00a0<strong>Windows Logs<\/strong>\u00a0then\u00a0<strong>Application\u00a0<\/strong>\u2192 Use the event ID and the error message to search for a\u00a0suitable fix for it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) is a set of COM APIs that implements a framework to allow volume backups to be performed while applications on a system continue to write to the volumes.
