The Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) is a set of COM APIs that implements a framework to allow volume backups to be performed while applications on a system continue to write to the volumes.<\/p>\n

If this service is not\u00a0running on your machine, C-Cloud will fail to back up your opened and locked files. To check this service status:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Go to the Start<\/strong> menu on your machine.<\/li>\n
  2. In the Search\\Run filed type: services.msc<\/strong> and hit enter.<\/li>\n
  3. Look for the Volume Shadow Copy Service,<\/strong>\u00a0right click on it and select Properties<\/strong>. From the General<\/strong> tab, make sure that the Service startup type is set to Automatic and then start the service.<\/li>\n
  4. Repeat the step 3 for the service Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    And also check the Windows Event Viewer for any recent errors related to this service. Here is how you can do that:
    \nFrom Start<\/strong> menu \u2192 Control Panel<\/strong> \u2192 Administrative Tools<\/strong> \u2192 Double-click\u00a0Event Viewer<\/strong>\u2192 From the left panel of the Event Viewer, select\u00a0Windows Logs<\/strong>\u00a0then\u00a0Application\u00a0<\/strong>\u2192 Use the event ID and the error message to search for a\u00a0suitable fix for it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
